FAQ

- My computer has NO POWER.
- My computer has power, but will not start up.
- My computer will start up, but one of my applications does not work.
- I cannot retrieve my e-mail.
- I cannot print.
- My computer is much slower than it used to be.
- How do I back up my files?
- Make sure that your computer and monitor are plugged in.
- Make sure that the power switch on the back of the computer is in the ON position.
- Check the network cable.
- Make sure that the monitor is turned on.
- Make sure that the correct user name is entered in the login screen.

- If you are unsure, log off and then log back on to your computer. Try e-mail again.
- In the control panel, verify that you have a valid printer selected.
Remove all toolbars, backgrounds, wallpapers, and any other spyware that you may have added to your computer.
To do this:
- Click Start
- Go to Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Click Add/Remove Programs
- Remove anything labeled 'Toolbar', 'WOW Papers', 'Precision Time or Date', or anything with the word 'Search' in the title.
- Remove any programs that you may have added around the time the problem started.
- Click OK.
- Restart your computer.
- Do not add additional 'Features' to your computer without checking with the Technology Department.
- Make sure that you are logged on to the Novell server.
- To log on to Novell, when you start your computer, enter your user name and password in the Novell logon screen.
- Alternately, if your computer is already started, you can right click on the red N on the bottom right side of your computer and then choose Netware Login Enter your user name and password.
- Move all of your documents that you wish to save into your My Documents folder on your desktop. This is an excellent opportunity to delete old files that you no longer need.
- Be sure to include any documents that you have saved to your Desktop.
- Do not include Programs that have been installed on your computer. Programs will have to be reinstalled after your computer has been upgraded.
- Open your My Documents folder.
- Select all of the contents by clicking Edit (on the top left) then choose Select All.
- Copy all by clicking Edit then choose Copy.
- Minimize all open folders and programs by clicking the Minimize button on the top right side of each open screen.
- Open My Computer.
- Open Data on Cos? (F:)
- Open the folder with your name on it.
- Create a new folder by choosing File->New->Folder.
- Name the folder My Documents 051706 (Be sure that you do not include any slashes / or dashes in the date.)
- Open My Documents 051706? by double-clicking on it.
- Choose Edit->Paste to paste all of your documents into the My Documents 051706 folder. Close My Documents 051706
